A native of Valley Center, California, Commander Duffy was commissioned via
the U.S. Naval Academy in 1999 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in History.
After graduation, Commander Duffy completed flight training in Texas and
earned the designation of Naval Aviator in January of 2002
Commander Duffy reported to the Rough Raiders of VFA-125 for initial F/A-18
flight training. Upon completion he was assigned to the VFA-113 Stingers. He
served in the Stingers from 2003-2006. In that time he deployed for a
WESTPAC on the USS JOHN C. STENNIS (CVN 74). He also deployed aboard the USS
RONALD REGAN (CVN 76) flying combat sorties in support of Operation IRAQI
September 2006 Commander Duffy graduated from the Navy Fighter Weapons
School (TOPGUN) and took follow on orders to the “Outlaws” of Strike Fighter
Weapons School Pacific in Lemoore, California, where he served as SFTI until
Jan 2009. Commander Duffy next served in the Argonauts of VFA-147 as
Training Officer from January 2009 to January 2010. In his time he completed
a WESTPAC deployment on USS JOHN C. STENNIS (CVN 74).
In March 2010 Commander Duffy reported as a Department Head to the Royal
Maces of VFA-27 in Atsugi, Japan. He completed three WESTPAC deployments in
his tenure aboard USS GEORGE WASHINGTON (CVN 73).
In November 2012, Commander Duffy returned to Lemoore and joined the “Flying
Eagles” of VFA-122 as an instructor pilot. During this time he served as
Training Officer and Operations Officer.
Commander Duffy reported to the World Famous Golden Dragons of VFA-192 in
October 2014 as Executive Officer. He served as the Golden Dragon’s
Commanding Officer from October 2015 – January 2017.
Following his Command tour, he reported to the Pentagon as the TACAIR
Analyst in the Navy’s Programming Division, N80. He achieved escape velocity
in a mere 6 months and reported as Commanding Officer of VFA-122 in November
Commander Duffy’s personal awards include Strike/Flight Air Medal, Navy
Commendation Medals, Navy Achievement Medals, Meritorious Service Medal and
various unit and campaign decorations.
